Overview

Engineered from the ground up, Tokina has brought the legendary, multiple award winning optical technology from the ATX 11-16mm f2.8 to mirrorless cameras.  The new Tokina atx-m 11-18mm f2.8 sets the new standard for compact, fast aperture super wide-angle lenses specifically engineered to meet the high performance requirements of today’s crop-sensor mirrorless cameras.

Superior Optics

At the heart of the new optical design are two aspherical elements combined with two super low-dispersion lenses that suppresses chromatic aberrations, nearly eliminates coma at the edges at f2.8, and produces superior contrast and color reproduction. Making the lens an excellent choice for any type of photography including astrophotography.

Construction

The lens is small with a maximum length of 3.2 inches (82.7mm) and weighs just 11.8 oz (335 g), 40% lighter than the original ATX 11-16mm f2.8. Making this lens an excellent choice for professionals and enthusiasts who shoot stills, create movies, use gimbals, and vloggers needing a super wide lens when talking to the camera.

The silent ST-M focusing motor provides fast and precise AF operation and is Fully compatible with Sony’s internal camera 5-axis image stabilization,   Direct Manual Focus, MF Assist Mode, Eye AF, and in-camera Optical Correction technology. Best of all, the camera will not hear the sound of the lens operating when your are recoding audio with the camera’s internal microphones.

Minimum Focus Distance

The constant f2.8 aperture maintains precise exposure control throughout the zoom range from 11-18mm. It utilizes 9 rounded aperture blades for incredible soft bokeh in the out-of-focus areas of your image. It can focus as close as 7.4 inches (19cm) at 11mm and 11.8 inches (30mm) at 18mm.
